About this place
Steps from the ticket gates of Kanegafuchi Station on the Tobu Skytree Line, Cafe Prosto combines the warmth of an everyday kissaten with thoughtful kitchen craft. The calm dining room offers regular tables as well as partitioned seats, making it easy to settle in comfortably on one's own.
The midday highlight is the vibrant one-plate lunch. Daily specials rotate through fish such as red sea bream, Spanish mackerel, or yellowtail, pan-fried meunière-style and paired with Japanese-influenced sauces, surrounded by salad, small side dishes, soup or miso soup, and a bite of dessert. This array of small, handmade preparations makes for a satisfying, well-rounded meal.
Beyond the daily plate, the kitchen prepares roast beef sandwiches on chewy house-baked bread, a house curry, and refreshing Handa somen noodles. Guests receive a complimentary bite of homemade bread upon sitting down, adding a pleasant note of fresh-baked flavor while the kitchen finishes their food.
At tea time, the house desserts take center stage. Options span dense cheesecake, light chiffon cake, milky soft-serve sprinkled with cornflakes, and warm French toast. These accompany carefully brewed hot coffees and an extensive list of teas.
In the late afternoon, guests can order a happy-hour sausage-and-snack plate paired with German beer or wine. Cakes and breads are also available for takeout. Payment is cash only, so having bills and coins on hand is recommended.
